Upcoming Events
Treasure Valley Autism Community events matter to me because:
I think they are a fun way to meet other special needs families.
Public School Strong Idaho events matter to me because:
My concern is that funding for education for students with special needs is often the first area considered when budgets are cut. In my community, children were put in danger when Gavin Snow was able to get alone with special education students amid a combination of short staffing and insufficiently trained special needs staff.
Our children’s needs don’t disappear when they miss school for appointments, health needs, or disability related reasons. When funding is tied to attendance, the students who require the most support can unintentionally be the ones who lose resources. I hope Idaho’s Department of Education will consider enrollment-based funding that recognizes the ongoing commitment schools make to serving students with disabilities.
